We here at the Lab took time away from our beakers and bunsen burners to acknowledge the Human Sample labelled Anthony Baptiste on his most recent achievement of gaining entry to a renowned animation laboratory, Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning.
A graduate of UTT’s Diploma in Animation course, Sample Anthony has set his sights at becoming a top animation variable that would no doubt be the correct additive to any 3D animation experiment and ensure its success. His tenacity and human drive labelled ‘Love’ of art and design will aid him in logging his samples for his experiments at Sheridan’s laboratory.
Human Sample Anthony Baptiste, having been accepted to attend lectures at Sheridan’s laboratory, requires assistance with his lab fees; there is a fund raising event at 6p.m on Thursday 10th May at Medulla, 37 Fit Street, Woodbrook Port of Spain, where some of his work will be sold. Donations can be made on entry: please call 740-7597 to give your assistance to this most worthy Human Sample.
It is time for us here at the Lab to get back to our current experiment; the minions are probably getting the labels mixed up…

The Upstarts is an over the top animated sit-com set in Trinidad and Tobago. When the last boss goes missing, Phil Broker is called in to deal with the crazy team of animators and keep the animation company afloat. The pilot for the Upstarts is Lab206’s first in-house project and is being funded by the TTFC (Trinidad and Tobago Film Company).

Last Tuesday, we at Lab206 called for Voice Collaborators on The Upstarts project on Facebook. We put up our characters, both main and supporting cast, asking for voices to bring them to life.
And the response was amazing! We didn’t expect the level of excitement, the pouring in of emails demanding to be the voices of these crazy characters. So many responding to the call for Sunday, that the day is completely booked up! But if you’re still interested in auditioning, never fear! You can email us at contactlab206 @ gmail.com to come on Saturday, from 10am - 4pm.
We’ve been pleasantly surprised by all the excitement. With your help, we look forward to the months ahead to make The Upstarts the spectacular show it can be!

Keep and eye out for more about the Upstarts characters and behind the scenes info on the Upstarts Facebook Page!

How to Break Into Animation Steve Hickner Dreamworks Director from Creative Talent Networkon Vimeo.

Animation in Trinidad…Whats that?

That cartoon thing we do called animation and the industry in which we exist (or don’t exist depending on your viewpoint) is definitely a new innovative step. Its good to take a step back and look at the real life stories of how animation and animators developed over time and listen to their viewpoints and experiences.

Some talking points to take away from the video below are

  • always having a good attitude,
  • never pass up on opportunities
  • always take initiatives and
  • never take NO for an answer cause in this industry all you ever need is one yes.
